ANNUAL REPORT

Another Year for the Books

Each year for Peace of Adventure is one for the record books, and last year was no different. We are continually humbled by all of the generous support, motivated volunteers, and enthusiastic participants—all eager to show the world what is possible! We are truly excited for the future, but want to pause and reflect on the success of the past.

REMOVING BARRIERS TO ADVENTURE

From 2015 to 2018, Peace of Adventure focused heavily on offering week-long adventure camps designed to get participants out of their comfort zones and into the wilderness—learning new skills and developing camaraderie within their respective squads. While we continue to grow our adventure camp offerings, we recognize a great opportunity to serve more individuals, empower more volunteers and lower the barrier to entry for learning new skills.

In 2019, Peace of Adventure is offering Adventure Clinics in Asheville, North Carolina and hoping to triple the number of individuals served annually. This new initiative will not only increase our reach, but will improve our efficiency and ability to scale operations to new locations.

CASE FOR CONTINUED SUPPORT

In 2017, Peace of Adventure grew by 100%. While that growth was exciting, 2018 proved important in establishing sustainability through donor retention and stewardship. With aggressive program growth goals for 2019, Peace of Adventure is looking to raise an additional $100,000 to increase our capacity to meet those goals. Peace of Adventure has a program model that truly works, is repeatable and is scalable. With your support in our future, we aim to change the way society builds community through adaptive sports. Thank you!

YOUR SUPPORT MAKES IMPOSSIBLE POSSIBLE

2018 proved to be a significant year for Peace of Adventure and your support made it all possible. We launched new programs in new locations, and organized our first Ladies Adventure—paving the way for a new series of signature events. Recognizing strong growth through our partnership with The Bike Farm in Western North Carolina, we decided to relocate to Asheville, North Carolina to focus on creating the premier adaptive sports program in the Southeast. Our new home affords us the opportunity to offer more programs to more individuals. With new “Adventure Days” programming, we aim to provide 30 clinics serving 150 people in 2019.

With a new mission of Building community through adaptive sports, we are focused on utilizing our unique commitment to volunteerism as an avenue for creating incredible adaptive recreation for individuals with disabilities. While veteran empowerment is a key aspect of our volunteerism, we believe one of the biggest keys to veteran transition is inclusion. Therefore, military service does not define a Peace of Adventure volunteer, but we remain committed to enabling renewed purpose through veteran volunteerism.

Thanks to your support in 2018, Peace of Adventure experienced continued growth, expanded to new locations, established long-term partnerships and set the tone for an amazing 2019.
