Whether experiencing world-class mountain bike trails, the summit of a 12,000 foot peak, or the deep canyons of a desert river, Peace of Adventure offers premier adaptive adventure travel in North Carolina, Colorado and Utah. Come together with your teammates, build community, and push yourself to new possibilities!

Beginning October 2017, Peace of Adventure joined forces with The Bike Farm in Pisgah Forest, North Carolina to empower veterans to guide civilians with spinal cord injuries in an off-road handcycle clinic. While the original program was empowering for all participants involved, it was truly life-changing for the owners of The Bike Farm—who committed a portion of their business operations to continue serving Peace of Adventure through the creation of our adaptive mountain bike program. Peace of Adventure’s North Carolina Adventure Camps have become a premier program and offer amazing opportunities for participants to access some of the best mountain bike trails in the country.

During the day, participants enjoy the abundance of trails Dupont State Forest has to offer. From introductory forest service roads to challenging single track, our goal is to adapt to every participant’s ability level and strive to build camaraderie through shared experience. Following a long day of riding, enjoy the comforts of The Bike Farm’s accessible “glamping” facilities, and cozy up to the fire with a warm meal and great conversation.

Through our partnership with The Bike Farm, we hope to influence healthy lifestyles through a commitment to mountain biking while diving into the lives of our participants through deep connection and a commitment to long-term engagement and support.

Peace of Adventure partners with the Adaptive Sports Center in Crested Butte, Colorado to offer adaptive backpacking, mountaineering, skiing, and mountain biking adventures in the Rocky Mountains. We believe exploring the wilderness enables individuals to go beyond what is thought possible in an effort to break down perceived limitations. Led by professional guides and a team of volunteers, groups can expect all of these camps to involve a great level of teamwork and camaraderie.

The wilderness is the great equalizer, and our friends at the Adaptive Sports Center are the best in the business at sharing their great backyard with us and our participants. So if you are eager to take your adaptive recreation to high altitudes, camp near pristine alpine lakes among elk, marmot and other wildlife, and share in the experience with a great group of friends, join us on one of our next Colorado Adventure Camps!

You don’t have to search long for age-old stories from explorers and adventurers on epic journeys in the desert canyons of Utah. The landscapes are unparalleled and the history of the region can be heard through the whispers of the sandstone walls. And once in the canyon, it is just you, the river, and the few critters granting you safe passage through their home.

Utah is truly special and we are lucky enough to get to partner with the Adaptive Sports Center to offer adaptive river trips in some of the desert’s most special places. Enjoy the serenity of your own stand-up-paddleboard, the camaraderie of a canoe, or help row the gear boat and learn tall tales from your guide. The days are long and peaceful on the water, but you will be rewarded with five-star meals and an endless supply of stars and sounds as you wind down at night.

As water is an ever-fleeting resource in the West, these trips are water-level dependent and fill up fast. Please continue to check our schedule and follow us on social media so you don’t miss out!

Adventure is the avenue for confidence and community, and mountains reward us in our success and our failures. For it is when we challenge ourselves to push beyond perceptions of what is possible that we truly find our own strength. At the core of Peace of Adventure’s mission is our Ladies Adventure. We believe strongly in empowering women to be the best versions of themselves and building tribes of strong leaders paving the way for our country.

Our Ladies Adventure is a week-long adventure pairing some of the strongest female leaders in the adaptive industry with female participants ready and eager for the adventures ahead! Whether hitting the trails of Western North Carolina, learning to sail in the Pacific Ocean, or exploring the deserts landscapes of Western Colorado and Utah, Peace of Adventure is committed to providing a truly remarkable experience for women to realize what is possible in the outdoors, and apply that confidence and leadership to everyday life!

Thanks to continued support from Delta Gamma Foundation’s Service for Sight Grant, Peace of Adventure is able to offer amazing adventure camps for individuals with blindness and other visual impairments. Whether you are interested in learning to mountain bike, stand-up-paddleboard, ski or climb a mountain in Colorado, we offer great programming throughout the year. Please continue to check our calendar of events for the best Adventure Vision program for you!

Peace of Adventure offers volunteer training throughout the year for anyone eager to serve. However, our volunteer training camps are held once-a-year in a remote location, and is for key volunteers interested in taking their involvement and leadership to the next level.

During this camp, volunteers will gain a deep understanding of disability awareness, learn advanced skills in adaptive sports leadership, and increase their confidence to become future trip leaders and guides. Eligible participants for this camp are current program volunteers and past participants who have demonstrated a commitment to Peace of Adventure through consistent involvement, and desire the opportunity to advance skills in a leadership capacity. This camp is by invitation only.
